Cold Drafts, Hot Plates, Real Green Township

Pub 517 on Stuyvesant Road is where Sussex County locals eat, drink, and stay a while.

About Us

Fifty Stuyvesant Road has a pull to it. Pub 517 sits at a crossroads that Green Township locals know well, and on any given afternoon the parking lot tells the story: work trucks next to sedans, regulars next to first-timers, all drawn in by the same promise of cold beer and a kitchen that takes pub food seriously.

The menu swings wide, from steamed seafood and bisque to ribeyes, burgers, and appetizers built for sharing. With nearly a thousand reviews and a 4.4-star rating, the crowd has spoken: this place earns repeat visits. The bar anchors the room, the TVs catch every game, and the booths fill up fast on Friday nights when the kitchen stays open until ten.

Green Township is quiet country, and Pub 517 fits that rhythm without being sleepy. It opens at noon seven days a week, which means lunch is always on the table whether you're coming off a job site or a hiking trail in the Kittatinny Mountains nearby.

What We Offer

The kitchen runs noon to close every day, giving you a full window whether you're after a weekday lunch or a Saturday night dinner. Starters lean into the bar-food classics done right, and the seafood section is a real draw, with steamed lobster, clam platters, and a lobster bisque that anchors the menu. Steaks and ribeyes round out the heartier side of things.

The bar program is exactly what a neighborhood pub should be: rotating drafts, a solid bottle selection, and bartenders who keep the pours honest. Happy hour and daily specials give regulars a reason to settle in on weekdays, while the expanded Friday and Saturday hours make it the go-to for end-of-week plans in Sussex County.

Private events and group gatherings fit naturally in the space. Call ahead or visit the website to ask about reservations and any current specials running that week.

"I want to start in saying , this is my first bad review . But I could not accept what just happened to me . on the quality of steamed lobster and the very poor customer service and attitude I received from the manager Olivia . I ordered steamed lobster / potato $48 ! As soon as I cracked open I had brown juice running down my arm! And absolutely gross in side all cavity’s . Mushy brown guts and not just the middle . And it was not green to male that is in the cavity of lobster . I immediately called the waitress and I. She apoligized and said that normal ! This is not my first lobster .annd that is not normal . Asked for manager . A rude Olivia comes over and all she said was looks completely normal ! I asked if I can have another one , I do not feel comfortable eating could be spoiled . And she says I can get you another one but I have to charge you twice $48 ! I said you are ok with me eating a spoiled lobster she didn’t answer and walked away ! I end up getting the bill with the full $48 on a lobster that was not touched ! I’m amazed that pub 517 got away with this !"

"Came here for my birthday dinner and I'm not happy that I did. Steaks were overcooked for medium. No pink whatsoever. We weren't told as we were seated that it was cash only so the atm hit us for an extra charge. The waitress had a bad attitude and was less than attentive. This place used to be a family favorite years ago, but I highly doubt we will be coming back."

"The lobster bisque had no lobster bites. Ok whatever could've been in there but creamed. Ordered the ribeye with 2 dozen clams for 57$. The ribeye every bite had fat to it. I was constantly searching for meat? Came with 2 dozen of the smallest clams you can buy. Order a captain with triple sec and ginger ale and they charged me 20$ for it wth? My girlfriend ordered the king crab legs market price of course, 98$ seriously? Why not just make it a 100 you know you wanted to? Maybe 75 maybe! 5 legs on a plate, where's the other legs? I believe a crab has 8? I was wondering why on a Friday night that the place was kind of empty. ALSO BRING CASH ONLY NO CARDS ALLOWED. They have an atm but your bill will go over 200$ this is the max amount that the machine will give you at a time. So mine came to with tip 258$ so I had to do 2 transactions at 3$ a pop too. Cost me 266$ all in for a rooftop dinner in the city. Never again! The only thing that was efficient was the girls pumping out drinks and waiting on customers."

"4 people, $500. "Market value" for a simple serving of king crab legs, 2 dozen clams & a baked potato =$85. (we knew the prices when we ordered, so it wasn't the bill that made my review 2 stars, we ordered drinks, apps, add ons and dessert). The food was fine, our waitress Natalie, was amazing and VERY attentive. As we finished our meal it was close to closing time and we were one of 2 tables there. The bartender made it VERY clear she wanted us out, (she rushed us out, her car was already running and she turned the outside lights off on us as we walked outside, our friend is disabled and needed to use the ramp, in the dark) it made a very expensive, nice meal end on a poor note. When a restaurant is as empty as this one was on a Tuesday night, I can't imagine treating a guest this rudely. We will not be in any hurry to return. There are many other restaurants that are eager for business, especially in this current economy."

"Busy pub atmosphere. Owner and staff were very nice. I had a salad, tasty but I thought very expensive for what it was. Others in my group had steaks and lobster. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Steaks come with baked potato and veggie. Lobster comes with baked potato. 3 people had clams (which they all said were delicious) & we had a shrimp cocktail and an order of onion rings for the table 4 dinners, 3 clams, onion rings, 2 sodas, 2 waters, 3 desserts. Bill was about $50 a person just an fyi."
